Nigeria Is The Second highest HIV infected country in Africa

Nigeria Is The Second highest HIV infected country in Africa

AIDS Health Care Foundation, AHF, has claimed that Nigeria has the second highest burden of HIV, after South Africa.

A release issued on Friday by Kemi Gbadamosi, AHF Senior Manager, also claims that only about 45 percent (about 70 million) of Nigerians are aware of their HIV status.
The release quoted Dr Adetayo Towolawi, the Country Programme Manager of AHF Nigeria, as saying that 45 percent was quite low judging by Nigeria’s population size.

Already, Towolawi said that 3.4 million people were living with the virus in the country, and further observed that achieving an AIDS-free generation was possible if more people knew their status and those found positive placed on treatment.

He disclosed that as part of the AHF’s contribution to Nigeria’s HIV/AIDS response that his organisation had flagged off a testing campaign aimed at reaching 15,000 Nigerians with free HIV test.
Towolawi said the campaign would be held in partnership with state and local government authorities with the target of realising the UNAIDS/AHF global goals on HIV/AIDS.
“ The HIV testing campaign is part of the organisation’s robust prevention activities for the year and a strategic tool in ensuring that more Nigerians know their HIV status.
“ As part of AHF Nigeria’s testing scale up plan, the testing campaign will target Abuja, Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Kogi and Nasarawa States.
“In addition to HIV testing, individuals will also have an opportunity to check their blood pressure, receive health and wellness talks among other services.

“In the country, relevant stakeholders and partners are scaling up testing uptake and AHF Nigeria is taking measures to consolidate these efforts and champion community-driven testing outreaches,’’ Towolawi stated.
The statement also quoted Elizabeth Duile, the Prevention Programme Manager of AHF, as saying that the foundation was committed to ensuring the availability of HIV testing services in the country.
Duile said the campaign would provide a platform to educate individuals and communities.

“Ending AIDS starts with a commitment to act and everyone has a responsibility in stopping the spread of the virus.
“ People are often reluctant to test for fear of the result and stigma; today there are mechanisms in place to check stigma and discrimination.
“This will ensure that people living with HIV have access to treatment, care and support,’’ she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that AIDS Healthcare Foundation is the largest non-profit HIV/AIDS organisation in the world and provides health care to more than 600,000 patients in 36 countries.
AHF Nigeria has been operating in the country since 2011 and has presence in six states.

BISHOP'S DAUGHTER CONVERTS TO ISLAM

Ogun First Lady Tells How She Converted To Islam

Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Olufunsho Amosun has narrated how she converted from Christianity to Islam after her marriage to the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

She explained why as a staunch Christian with a bishop as a father, she is married to a Muslim.

In an interview with Vanguard, she said “The first person I told I wanted to get married to a Muslim was my mother. First, she burst into tears and then she asked me whether I had told my dad and I said no and I could see that mischievous smile.

“But, today, my mother and my husband are like the best of friends and, of course, I get my pound of flesh back sometimes when they are joking and she has forgotten! I will say, ‘Eh! Muslim lo fe fe’ (meaning, you want to marry a Muslim).

“When I told my dad, he said, ‘Ah, okay, well, we just have to pray about this one’. But somehow, they hit it off very well. The thing about it is, my husband believes in God. My husband, I will say, is even more religious than me.
“He truly believes in God, he has faith in God that all things are possible and when you see somebody that is so committed and you see that based on his faith; not challenging God, but telling God that ‘I believe in you’ and you see time and time and time again those things manifesting.

“It started from me having faith in his faith. I have faith in his faith, God and that just made it so easy, because I could see that God did not fail him and I know that my husband doesn’t believe in anything else, except God.”

When asked if there was any deliberate attempt from her husband to convert her to Islam, she said, “Not really. But yes!
“I pray the Muslim way because we are a very close-knit family and, in the beginning, I will tell my children, ‘Oya, time to pray’. ‘But mummy how come you are not praying with us?’ ‘Does that mean daddy’s God is not a good God?’ My children will ask me. And that was when I began to give it a thought. It didn’t take much time before I joined them. The rest, as they say, is history but it was not his doing, I just converted, just like that,” Mrs Amosun stated.

This will not only assuage the current pains arising from the new fuel pricing regime, but will provide ongoing social safety nets for over 8 million Nigerians this year alone, according to Akande.

He added that this is beside the jobs that would be created by the infrastructural projects that would be restored and the new ones that would soon be taking off.

Said he: "the Buhari presidency is keen to ensure that Nigerians are lifted and that if necessary on an ongoing basis palliatives measures would always been considered to address the conditions of the people."

A LESSON FROM A DEAD WOMAN

Family photos & corpse of Ronke Shonde who was allegedly killed by her husband Lekan Shonde.

This is Ronke Shonde and her husband, Lekan Shonde. She was found dead in her home two days ago. this is a case of violence against women. I ask myself. How long will women continue to be at the receiving end? When you see signs of abuse in your marriage and you complain, your friends and family will tell you to endure it. Marriage is not a bed of roses. Should marriage be enjoyed or endured? if it is to be endured why go into it? I t is time to change our orientation in Africa about abusive relationships. One of the reasons women remain and die in an abusive relationship is because of societal pressures. what would people think of me? but it is time for women to take their destinies in their hands and quit abusive relationships. Though if you are a christian who believes you cannot remarry if your husband is still alive, it is pretty difficult to stay out of sin. It takes a lot of discipline from you as a woman.SHARE YOUR OPINION ON THIS. DO YOU THINK WOMEN SHOULD REMAIN IN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS AND MARRIAGES IN THE NAME OF LOVE?

DOCTORS COMPLAIN

There is a recent complaint by doctors in Nigeria, that married women now compete with unmarried girls in commiting abortion. A recent research by Federal Ministry of health, and the African population, reveals that 3 out of 5 married women have had an abortion in Nigeria. This is indeed worrisome. Dr Gbriel Omonaye, a medical practitioner says that there are various reasons women engage in abortion. some of them are, lack of proper contraceptive method, economic hardship and infidelity, whatever reason you have for doing an abortion, just know that the laws of our land are against it and it carries 14 years jail term. Some doctors say the charge as much as N30,000.00 thirty thousand naira to do an abortion. really sad. What do you think?

13 women die weekly while giving birth

A UN agency UNFPA has reported that 13 women die weekly while giving birth. This is a case of maternal mortality. Something should be done to check this trend. women should not die while givimg birth. Various governments of the world should take measures to ensure women are alive before and after birth.

 http://www.nigeriafilms.com/image.aspx?img=Y29udGVudC9jb250ZW50L01vbmFsaXNhLUNoaW5kYS11aS5qcGd8NjYw

Favorite nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda who covered the recent edition of genevive magazine, has revealed that men see women who are 35 years and above as dead engine. She also said she got into her recent marriage because she decided to give love another chance. Now if men who are 35 and above are dead engines, what do we call men who are 35 and above? You will recall that another nollywood acress Clarion Chukwura recently got married in the US at the age of 51. Can we still say older women are dead engines?

NIGERIAN PRESIDENT MEETS WITH CATHOLIC BISHOPS IN ASO ROCK

A SENIOR ADVOCATE OF NIGERIA THREATENS TO SUE TIWA SAVAGE- FREEZ

https://i.onthe.io/vllkytaHR0cDovL2Nkbi0wMS5uYWlqLmNvbS9vL3YyaUh3bnNab3NFanJDcnB6bWREZEdQOS5qcGc=.prx.r800x600.5e46a986.jpglatest News reaching us says that a man called O.A.P Freeze on phone,  and introduced himself as a senior advocate of Nigeria, threatening to sue Tiwa savage for tarnishing her husband's image and i ask myself, why is it that women are always at the receiving end? where was the senior advocate when Teebilz was saying all sorts about Tiwa? why didnt he threaten  to sue Teebilz when he came out to say all manner of evil against Tiwa? Why is he taking sides instead of facing reality and cautioning his fellow man for doing the wrong thing? all these questions are beckoning for answers.
Am worried because in Africa? when a marriage breaks up, they say its the woman's fault. This is a clear case of violence against women.
I am not trying to blame anyone here but what am saying is that no one both male and female should take sides in this matter but let us not be quick to call the woman names. It is time to change our orientation. The world belongs to the man and woman.

WOMEN AS CO-BUILDERS

In the face of the present economic realities in the world today, it has become imperative for women to assume the position of a co builder of the family. Women should be given the free hand to do what they want to do by way of income generation for the family. Now answer me. Will you accept to be a full time house wife?

WHY DO WOMEN CHEAT ON THEIR HUSBANDS?

2nd May 2016
WHY DO WOMEN CHEAT ON THEIR HUSBANDS?https://ginalazenby.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/p1060609.jpgIt is generally believed that men are more likely to cheat on their wives than women cheating on their husbands. it is an agelong belief in africa that the man is free to cheat but the woman dares not. this is still part of discrimination against women, which should be looked into. The woman certainly feels bad to see or learn that her husband is in the hands of another woman and so her feelings should be respected.
HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY WOMEN CHEAT
1. NEGLIGENCE:
When the woman feels neglected by her husband. some men ignore their wives for days, weeks and even months without having sex with them and sadly, these men have concubines outside their homes. a woman who doesnt have the fear of God will likely cheat.
2. EX-BOYFRIEND
This is one factor that causes problems in marriages. when women refuse to give up old relationships. It makes them cheat. You can solve this problem by cutting off from every relationship with men after marriage.
I have more to give you. But if you know other reasons why women cheat on their husbands, send me an email on
