Woman Beats Her Landlord’s Wife To Death In Lagos

Woman Beats Her Landlord’s Wife To Death In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a resident of Shobowale Street in the Alagbado area of the state, Victoria Alaba, for allegedly killing the wife of her landlord during a scuffle.

The deceased, Mrs. Amosa Ogunyemi, had ordered Alaba and other tenants not to wash dirty clothes at one section on the premises because the compound was being messed up.

It was said that the woman ignored the order and was washing on the premises on Saturday when Mrs Ogunyemi approached her and told her to vacate the spot.

According to Punch, Alaba declined the directive, causing an altercation between the two.

A source close to the family told Punch that Alaba, in her 30s, pounced on the deceased and beat her up, but another resident said they engaged in a scuffle during which Ogunyemi gave up the ghost.

It was learnt that the landlord’s wife, who was said to be in her late 50s, was rushed to a hospital in the area, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The source, who declined to mention his name, said, “The landlord’s wife had warned on several occasions that tenants should stop washing clothes at the spot, but Victoria (Alaba) did not listen. On Saturday, she chose to wash her dirty clothes at the spot again. The landlord’s wife walked up to her and told her to leave the spot. She refused and they started exchanging words.

“She pounced on Amosa (Ogunyemi) and pushed her to the ground. The woman became unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she died. The tenant has been arrested by policemen from the Alagbado division.”

However, a resident of the area, who identified himself simply as Adamu, said the argument between the two women led to a fight.

“I was not there, but I was told that it was a fight and the woman (Ogunyemi) was overpowered by the tenant. She died in the process,” he added.

Other residents approached by our correspondent, who visited the neighbourhood on Wednesday, refused to speak on the issue.

In the deceased’s residence, a one storeyed-building, some sympathisers gathered under a tent outside, while others were with the husband of the late woman in a living room.

The distraught widower and a relative said the matter had been amicably resolved and called one of the deceased’s children, identified as Kazeem, to speak to our correspondent.

The son told Punch that the family members were not interested in taking any legal action against the suspect, adding that his mother had been buried according to Islamic rites.

He said, “We have resolved the matter and the police have released her corpse to us. We don’t have any comment on how the incident happened. All we are going to say is that everything is settled. Thank you.”

Lagos Police PRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident in a text message, adding that the suspect was transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, for further investigation.

She said, “The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has ordered the case to be transferred to the SDCI for discreet investigation..."

OILLESS OKRA SOUP - GBAGBAFOFO (FITFAM FRIENDLY!)

OILLESS OKRA SOUP - GBAGBAFOFO (FITFAM FRIENDLY!)

Let me tell you an interesting story of how Bobo, my husband fell hopelessly in love with this soup. On my trip to Warri I bought a lot of my Niger Delta Spices and I had to time to visit a restaurant or two to have my favourite soups, I had Gbagbafofo and promised to make it for my family. Oya oh, we reached lagos and Bobo asks what's for dinner, I say Gbagbafofo, he's like "abeg give me Egusi", I tried to encourage him  to go for the Okra but he no gree, so I made two soups, Okra and Egusi

I noticed as Tito and I were eating our Okra Bobo's eyes was just entering the plate, after trying to resist he told me he wanted to taste...he was a "goner" after the first swallow of Eba. He said "Whaaaaaat??? and you made me eat Egusi???" Una see me see wahala? Is this not the same guy I begged to eat Okra? Since then this Gbagbafofo has become a weekly soup in my house

Gbagbafofo is a marriage of pepper soup and okra-It's delicious when it's cooked fresh and perfect for rainy days like my day today. If you are team fitfam then this soup is for you #oilless ! Get in here! You can check out this Catfish Peppersoup post for a detailed pepper soup recipe.
INGREDIENTS
Iwo/Ehuru (10) (that's what gives the pepper soup aroma)
Urheri /Uda (2) (you take out the seed and discard)
Umilo/Ulima (2 )
1 Tbs Beletete
Ataiko/Atariko 1/2 tsb (this looks similar to irugeje)
Irugeje (21/2 tsb)
Ground crayfish
Seasoning cubes
Native Salt/ Regular Salt
Cameroon Pepper
Ata Rodo
Okra Chopped
King Prawns (Optional)
Chicken/Fish/Beef
  • In a pot I pour in my chicken broth + chicken and add water enough to cook the soup.
  • Add your ground spices- pepper, ataiko, irugeje, iwo, umilo, gbafilo, crayfish and de-seeded Urheri into the pot as well or the pre-made pepper soup spice...I love this brand and that's what I use on days I don't have energy to grind the spices myself.
  • I add some chopped fresh pepper, I also add some cameroon pepper and crayfish
  • I may use Maggi (depending on how much I used in the chicken broth). Don't forget salt for taste (I love using native salt for traditional soups like this but if you have normal salt, use it. Nothing spoil.
  • Cover the pot and allow to cook for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Now add your prawns, allow cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add your chopped okra and beletete. Beletete is optional
  • Within 7 minutes your soup should be ready!
  • Serve with Eba or Wheat or Starch or any swallow of your choice.

Open Heavens 30 April 2016: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Lord, My Fortress

Topic: The Lord, My Fortress [Saturday 30, April 2016]

Memorise: And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;  – 2 Samuel 22:2

Read: Psalms 91:1-8 (KJV)

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Bible in One Year: 1 Kings 12-13, Proverbs 17:15-28

MESSAGE:

The experience of the Psalmist concerning divine protection is worthy of study. According to our memory verse for today, he says: “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.” Whoever experiences these attributes of God in his life can be rightly described as the inheritance of the Lord. The psalmist further wrote:

“They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” - Psalms 125:1

One point to quickly note is that this Bible verse talks only to those who put their trust in the Lord, not those who have alternatives. David trusted totally in the Lord and he was never disappointed, that's why he had made such statements as this;

“As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” – Psalms 125:2

In other words, the Lord builds walls of protection round about his people. This is ‘food for thought’ for double-minded people who are still in doubt of God’s ability to totally protect. Some people are even afraid of prosperity, because they feel they would be prone to attacks from enemies if they get rich. They obviously do not know that the Almighty God that prospers is the One that protects as well.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence....5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;” - Psalms 91:3, 5

One is thrilled by assurance with which the Psalmist is telling us about the Lord’s protection over His people. David’s experiences, first with the lion and the bear, and later with Goliath, are testimonies that should make a doubter believe that Our God is indeed Jehovah-Nissi.

I assure you that if you put your trust in the Lord, your protection is guaranteed. Our Lord never fails, He watches over his elect so that His name will not be blasphemed. Also, He fights on behalf of his elect so that they may not be discouraged by the battles of life.

My prayer is that the Rock of Ages will continue to protect you and your loved ones in the name of Jesus. However, ensure that you have no other god beside the Almighty God.

Prayer Point: Father, please deliver me from the nets of the fowler in Jesus’ name.

Nigerian plantain pottage

Nigerian plantain pottage

Plantain pottage served with grilled chicken
Plantain pottage cooked this way is the yummiest, helps one lose weight, Controls sugar levels and very rich in vitamins. I wanted variety for my plantain but never imagined the equation will be so balanced and well blended. Whoever thought that plantain will turn out this good with sauteed vegetables. Because of the veggies, didn't add locust beans. Cooked the porridge or is it pottage?  Cooked until done before stirring in my sauteed vegetables and serving. This can be cooked with unripe or fairly ripe plantains.  More pics when you continue...

How Do I Relate With An Unfriendly Mother inlaw?

How Do I Relate With An Unfriendly Mother inlaw?

Good morning Aunty. It's not as bad as the title sounds o. Let me explain. I've honestly been totally good and generous to my fiance's family. By nature I'm very friendly and I talk to them and I make them a part of my life, not just like people I have to interact with because I'm dating their son/brother/uncle /nephew.  I participate a lot  in family activities, we talk, I will do them favors sometimes. It seems like everyone in his family likes me except for his mum.
I don't know why but from the moment I step into their house each time, I'm her target. She will randomly blame me for things
I didn't do and get really upset over it, shows that she doesn't want me in her house or something.  sometimes she will actually yell at me! andI don't know why but I tend to start crying when people yell at me but when I cry in front of my mother inlaw to be, after being verbally attacked it like makes her even angrier. She never apologizes afterwards...even after she realizes I didn't do what she thought I did. She'll just be like "oh ok." and carry on like it doesn't matter whatever she just did to me.
My fiance has defended me and stood up for me many times and they have gotten into arguements over me which I seriously hate being in the middle.  I have never yelled back or had an attitude with her. All I do is get anxious and emotional , drop some tears and my boyfriend comes to my rescue. I've never even openly expressed anger or hatred towards her or said she's mean or anything in front of anybody. So,  obviously, she has a problem  with me coming to visit or just doesn't want me around her son. the closest thing to rude I have said about her to my boyfriend (or anyone else) is "I think she is wicked to me and I don't know what to do." I'm already the innocent one here but I've been playing it up too a little bit more to keep my boyfriend on my side just in case she tries to brainwash him.
For example, I'm thinking that, if I continue to act sweet to her and never trash talk her then no one can see me as the bad girl, if I don't blink or roll my eyes at her, no one will see me as bad. The more of a sweetie I am who doesn't fight back or say things about her the more of a bad person she looks and I will always  be totally innocent in everyones eyes. I feel like I need to do this because she's family and I'm not yet. Therefore my fiance and others in the family will always lean towards choosing her over me but, if I can look innocent enough by not contributing then maybe my Fiance will feel more inclined to side with me. Because the moment I talk back or try to defend myself, I am no longer the innocent victim and I become part of the wahala and he will be less likely to side with me in every situation.
Am I right acting this way or should I stand up to her bullying give her a piece of  my mind even for once.?

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM TIWA SAVAGE'S MARRIAGE CRASH

Tiwa Savage Giving an exclusive interview On Pulse TV

There have always been Social media rumors that Tiwa Savage's marriage to Tunji Balogun was suffering but, without evidence, I never believed until I watched the video yesterday and when I got to the point where she broke down, I also broke down. It was really touchy and I've
always known this one thing; That TRANSPARENCY is very important in relationships whether marriage or other relationships with people. It's very important for a spouse to be an open book, to be honest, because, HONESTY is the best policy. When couples begin to hide things from each other, there is problem. Collecting payment for shows and making his wife think that no money was paid? That was a mistake. If as the manager he wasn't ok with the 60:40 arrangement, he should have had a discussion and maybe tried to convince his wife to increase his managerial fee.

Not many marriages can survive the stress of mixing business and marriage. It's hard. Even having a joint account alone is enough to end some marriages not to talk of having just one source of income being split by husband and wife. It's not easy, that's why when I look at celebrities like Tunde and Wunmi Obe, I ask myself "How do they do it? For all these years of being in showbiz together, doing business together without scandal . The Lord is their strength.

Tiwa saw the signs at the beginning of their relationship but ignored until... in marriage they became too obvious to ignore. Never ignore these things. You see, they say love is blind but, marriage is an eye opener. In marriage, you won't be able to ignore these things anymore and always always remember that people hardly change. This saying by one of my favourite authors has always been in my head...
"The first time people show you who they are, BELIEVE THEM"
Maya Angelou.

A lot of people go into marriage with the intention of using the other person to their advantage and that is wrong. Marriage is not a kind of business venture or something.

Marriage is hard work and no two marriages are the same. In reality, some marriages are more peaceful, more loving and more grounded that others. While some marriages do not need much work to succeed, others need so much of dry fasting, stooping to conquer and tons of patience. Study your own marriage and either enjoy it or carry your cross and continue to hope for the best.

What man would expect a wife like Tiwa Savage to daily cook his meals? Yes, she should make his meals from time to time but not daily abeg. Where is the time? If one can afford it, I see nothing wrong with hiring a chef. If I had a schedule like hers, I'd definitely hire a chef for my family. A lot of people are successfully doing it and I pray that more African husbands will begin to understand that cooking for your husband everyday is not the most important aspect of marriage. I know one or two African men who serve their wives breakfast in bed sometimes and, you don't know how special that little gesture can make a woman feel. Always, expecting the woman to do everything all the time with her hands while still managing a career can be so stressful.

There is just something about our husbands expecting us in a way to just be like our mothers, in this 21st century? Yes, I remember how difficult it was for my own "Oyibo" husband to just accept that I use a washing machine for our children's clothes. It took me so long I had to bring it home unannounced and he couldn't just do anything about it.Then I had 3 kids, was working outside home and going through so much stress. Saturdays that are meant for rest and family, I spent washing baskets of dirty laundry. Getting house helps in Abuja wasn't easy and every chore was on me.

I was shocked when my husband initially resisted me getting a washing machine, stressing that as a mom, it's my responsibility to wash my kids clothes like an African mother. I tried my possible best until one day he came home to a waiting washing machine and honestly, that machine made me a better wife because it reduced my stress and anger levels. Although later he realized that it made me less stressed up and happier,  he then got a bigger one for us. My point is that initially, why would he insist that as a proper African mom, I ought to enjoy hand washing my children's cloth even when we couldn't find a help (The dry cleaner did his and some of mine, but still the kids laundry was so much by weekend). So, what can I say? our Naija husbands should please realize that change is what we are in oh, after all they voted for "change" and we accepted.. If a wife is extremely busy and can afford a good cook for the family, please let her!

Yes. I broke down with Tiwa Savage but come to think of it ... IF everything she said in that video is the truth, why would he then be suicidal?
